A little later on we had our first real rehearsals in a wing of a mansion where our first drummer Marko Wallenius used to live. At first we played some songs of The Ramones (Blitzkrieg bop, I wanna be your boyfriend and Now I wanna sniff some glue.) and some Finnish material (Lama:Bussi, Pyhät Nuket:Bella Ciao). Our first own song in those sessions was the first version of “Mickey Mouse goes to war” (which in my opinion is the first true The Blitzkrieg Boys song). It was also recorded but the tape is lost. Then Marko left the band because he thought our music was too simple. Our conclusion was: Well what the heck -“Let’s get a training place and make some noise!”. So Mike started to play to drums again.

Our first “rehearsal studio” was in the music class of our school (thanks to our music teacher). We did some training (and some very modest recordings which once again made us very glad because the “right”-parts seemed to be increasing). We played mostly our own material (all 3 of us were involved in writing the early songs) and some songs of The Ramones. Then it was time to get a real drummer. So we sent some advertisements to the music papers and tested 4 drummers. The 4 th was the one even though he was only 14 and we were 16.His name was Tero Kyllönen (a.k.a. Tony Blitzkrieg). He was into glam- and hard rock as well as heavy metal so we had to teach him a thing or two about music.

TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT… by Marko Tienhaara (a.k.a. Marty Blitzkrieg)

It doesn’t take a genius to see (and hear) that we owe a lot to The Ramones. I first heard them on the radio back in ’81 and before too long I got an idea to form a band, a band that would be a mixture of The Ramones, The Cockney Rejects and The Misfits.

So I started to learn how to play guitar. But things didn’t really start to happen until my friend Marko Wallenius (who was to be our first drummer as well) saw an advertisement in a music magazine in the summer of ’85.It was Miikka Kirveskoski (a.k.a. Gil Blitzkrieg) looking for musicians in order to form a band that would play same kind of music as The Buzzcocks, The Clash sand Johnny Thunders. Well I phoned him and we decided to give it a try. And not before too long I recruited Mikko Kivinen (a.k.a. Mike Blitzkrieg ) a schoolmate of mine. At that time he was mostly into Scorpions and Metallica so I had to teach him how to listen to The Ramones.

At first we decided that Gil would play guitar (he could play it better than the rest of us), Mike would play drums and I would do the vocals.

Our first ever recording was a song called “Tina I love you” (a story about a girl in our school) and it was recorded at Gil’s place (Mike playing plastic bucket as drums). A part of the song was right and at that time it made us very glad.
